When I meet clients for the first time, I often explain that my profession has always centered around solving client problems and guiding them to better outcomes.

Some clients start off nervous about investing or feel anxious about negative headlines. But when they understand the risks, rewards, and available solutions, I believe it’s easier for them to weather ups and downs knowing that their long-term plans are solid and positioned to handle inevitable market changes.

In my current role as Chief Investment Officer, I’m responsible for financial plan design and investment management. But I’ve found that most clients aren’t hiring someone to invest their assets and beat the market. They want to know the rationale for a particular investment allocation and how that supports their goals.

Clients also want reassurance that they are doing the right things. Are they taking advantage of all of their employer’s benefits? Do they need an estate plan? Are they insured properly? How should they allocate cash flow? Getting to know clients personally, as well as their goals and needs, is key.

My 20+ years of experience in business and consulting is diverse. I worked as an associate in M&T Bank’s Investment Banking group and as a principal consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP before expanding into private wealth management.

My wife, Sara, and I live in McLean, Virginia, with our two adult children. Coaching youth sports is a passion, including baseball, softball, and both boys’ and girls’ hockey. Still an avid hockey player myself, I’ve been a member of the Graying Hockey “league” for more than 20 years. Other personal interests include fishing Canadian lakes for walleye, pike, and muskie; tracking down where I’ll see Metallica next (first concert at 16); and, more recently, live country music with my family.
